French soldier commits suicide on webcam as he chats with other users in health forum

A young soldier shot himself in the head live on webcam as he chatted with another user of a health discussion site.

The 22 year old, named only as Jean-Edouard A., killed himself at his uncle's home in Marseille, southern France, during an online chat on health forum Doctissimo.fr, according to French newspaper Le Parisien.

The image of the dead man was left on the site and could be seen for several hours after.

The other user, whose chatroom name is 'Ravioli', alerted other users after witnessing the horrifying event.

One user got in touch with the site's administrators in Canada, who identified the IP address of the computer the soldier had been using. The website alerted Interpol and local police.

One site user commented: 'Other internet users were able to see the images.

'The image of his head lying on the desk after his death stayed up for several hours before the site administrators took it down.'
